Christmas isn’t technically over until January 6. If you enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies, you might enjoy this 1994 pre-Hallmark Christmas romance, A Christmas Romance, starring Olivia Newton-John and Gregory Harrison, that cutie from Trapper John, M.D. Olivia’s real-life daughter plays the oldest child.
Making the movie a lot better is the jokes track added by Mystery Science Theater 3000 alumnae Bridget Nelson and Mary Jo Pehl (who plays Pearl on MST3K). You’ll need to fork over around $10 to Rifftrax to get it, but it’s a small price to pay.
The early 90s was before most actresses preemptively botoxed and fillered themselves up the wazoo. Olivia looks refreshingly natural in her aging here.
Gregory Harrison’s forehead has grown, but he’s still adorable.
Since Olivia spends much of her screen time tired and pissed off, Gregory Harrison ends up pulling the movie through with his goofy but endearing city man who realizes he needs a bit of country life.
Predictable in all the right ways.
Hot Frosty on Netflix is kinda cute in a super cheesy way.
